Wine tours: grape harvest experiences in Tuscany

Every year during our wine tours we enjoy the grape harvesting season around Tuscany. In Chianti or Montalcino area you may be stuck behind the trucks transporting harvested grapes from the vineyards to cellars, while driving around its winding roads. The air smells of must and cellars are buzzing with activities.

Welcome harvest!

Every year, our friends in the Pisan countryside organize a welcome dinner to harvest in mid-september to enjoy some of their finest wines from previous vintages and wish good luck to new one. A long table is set up along the vineyards’rows and we all sit in the cool late evening breeze chatting and toasting.

September is grapes’ harvest period and in sunny days, when picking is possible, cellars are very busy with activities. This is the only period you may understand the wine making process by seeing the machines in action and appreciate the efforts of wine makers in producing quality wine.
