Garfagnana is nested between the Appennini and Apuan Alps mountains, in convenient position for those staying in Lucca and Versilia areas. You can experience outdoor activities as well as food tours in Garfagnana.
Wine tour programme
The wine tour will take place in a family-run winery near Barga, producing biodynamic wine. Syrah, pinot noir grapes, and other French varieties grow particularly well in the Garfagnana climate. Some lables were awarded among 100 best wines of Italy. Here you will walk on vineyards and visit the cellars, before tasting 3 of their wines with some local foody treats.
Mountain wine
Many grapes grow in the mountains in Italy. In Garfagnana wine is produced at 700 mt above sea level. The special climate makes this wine very fruity. The winemaker requires more efforts to gain a good harvest, not only for the elevation of vineyards, but also for the extreme weather conditions.
