Versilia for foodies
Northern Tuscany coast has plenty of foody treats from the sea the land. You will certainly enjoy meeting Alderigo in his Salumi factory in Gombitelli . This family run company, in the cosy frame of their food shop, will open the doors to show you the savours and aromas of their artisanal products. A walk around the ‘700 village will allow you get a shot of the panorama of Lucca on one side and Versilia on the other side. On our way down to Camaiore, we will stop for a stroll around Camaiore along the pilgrims’ Via Francigena up to the Xth century Badia, not to be missed. Lunch will be hosted by our friend and gourmet Cristina, who will arrange a Versilia ‘doc’ tasting of cured meats, cheese, honey, preserves, olive oil and wines in the cosy frame of her restaurant in Pozzi, surrounded by olive trees. In the afternoon, we will head to Pietrasanta, socalled ‘Little Athens’, to meet artists in their workshops, showing us their artistic skills in carving, casting, drawing pieces which will be sold around the world. A walk around Pietrasanta and its charming Piazza Duomo, showplace for famous art expositions, will top off this plentiful itinerary.
