Nature, food artisans and relax: this is Mugello
Nature, food artisans and relax: this is Mugello
I have spent the last weekend in Mugello, where my husband attended #UltratrailMugello an outdoor race of 23 or 60 km. We stayed at Residence Isole, that is a small ‘island’, as the name recalls, in the middle of nowhere, in total silence and tranquillity. The resort has a few very comfy, rustic apartments and a very nice Locanda, where you can enjoy rather sophisticated meals, yet respecting the local traditions.
We have hiked with kids, from 4 to 8 years old, on the mountains trails discovering enchanted places, such as the water falls near Rigufio Diacci. We have met horses, cows, sheeps and may other farm animals on our way. We have eaten a fresh-made mozzarella as a sandwich at Palagiacci cheese factory and enjoyed super organic gelato, according to Caterina dè Medici recipe. We have yummed on home-made cakes such as those by Tamara at Passo Sambuco, but most of all we have eaten the best fiorentina you can find in Tuscany. No way to have it well-done, here meat is a serious affair.
I recommend Mugello for its pristine, wild nature, for the open-heartedness and simplicity of people, but most off all for its breath-taking landascapes that will remain as a printed postcard in your memory for ever.
